Motivos Duo,  Music from South America, May 21, 8:00 pm, $15

Originating  from Colombia, Andrés Ocampo (1st voice and requinto) and Miguel Betancourt (2nd voice and guitar) tap into the rich repertoire of this mountainous country.  Ever since their meeting in Montreal in 2001, they`ve  developed a great bond due in part to their complementary talents. Motivos offers a journey in song where Valses, Rancheras, Sones, Cueca, Zamba, Pasajes Latin America in addition to the iconic British rhythms such as cumbia, the Bambuco and Paseo Vallenato. Accompanying  The  Motivos  duo will be the Colombian percussionist Jorge Gómez.

This is not only due to the fact that the balalaika that Dmitri plays is a very rare instrument in this part of the world, but also to the varied repertoire of this duo. The author has manipulated, created using his language and his mannerisms. Through the voices of two actors, the characters will take other colors, other characters from one text to another. The senses will slide into one another and grow. Before our eyes, a variation of flavors and dramas, the ghosts that haunt the comedic shadows embodied in the black box when it opens its curtains for a moment.

Jacqueline van de Geer and Soufia Bensaid, one an actress the other a dancer, one born in Holland and the other in Tunisia, both living in Montreal meet. One thing unites them: their obsessions. How to get in touch with oneself and with others around the body and energy?What kind of impact can a presence, a gesture, an action provide a crossroad of two solo pieces or is it a collaboration piece?  LINKed is the poetry of links who seems to emerge from different universes. This piece has strong visuals and is a dance/theatre creation. We invite the audience to install theirselves around the performers.

Hugo Guerrero, Pascal Bujold, Alberto Torres and Gustavo Tanoni are four musicians from different backgrounds that produce a unique sound where every culture evolves and is enriched through contact with those of others. Fogón is the result of the meeting of an Argentine and a Chilean, who, together, find their roots in the sound of guitars, and a Quebecer who has rediscovered its roots in a meeting with the folklore of Argentina
